        Care

Sky Blue Topaz, with its serene, sky-like hue, hides a truth it’s only fair to know: the natural blue of topaz is extremely pale and rare. Today’s vivid tone is achieved from colorless topaz, irradiated and then heat-stabilized — a transformation that has become an industry standard.

The process is perfectly safe: any residual radioactivity dissipates, and stones from reputable suppliers are tested before sale. In essence, it’s a triumph of modern science that has turned a colorless stone into one of the most beloved blue gems—affordable and luminous.

The Sky Blue tone is a light, delicate, serene blue that brightens any piece. The base topaz comes mainly from Brazil and Nigeria. It looks especially beautiful set in 925 silver and white gold.

Associated with clarity, communication, and calm, its soothing blue makes it a beloved choice for everyday wear. With a hardness of 8, it’s durable—just protect it from impacts on edges and from sudden temperature changes.

Hardness · (Mohs Scale) 8. It is scratched by corundum (9) and diamond (10). / 10
        Care

Cubic zirconia used in jewelry is entirely man-made: zirconium dioxide melted at over 2700°C and crystallized under controlled conditions to produce a clear, inclusion-free stone. It virtually doesn’t occur in nature — a true triumph of the laboratory.

It also has a Cold War backstory: in the 1970s, Soviet scientists at Moscow’s Lebedev Institute perfected it under the name «fianit». The result mirrors a diamond’s fire so convincingly that it became the most popular sparkling and affordable alternative. (Note: it’s different from «zircon», which is a natural stone.)

Most often it’s colorless, echoing diamond, yet it can be crafted in virtually any hue. Its vivid sparkle is beautifully highlighted in 925 silver and gold.

As a modern stone, it doesn’t carry an old symbolic tradition of its own, but it’s loved for its brilliance and versatility in everyday jewelry. With a hardness of 8–8.5, it stands up well to wear, needing only moderate care and gentle cleaning to keep its fire.
