About the stone

Topaz is an aluminum and fluorine silicate that forms in cavities of volcanic rocks and in pegmatites.

The pink variety is among the rarest in nature.

Many pink stones on the market begin as orange-brown topaz, then are gently heated to bring out the delicate hue.

Pink-orange topaz bears the name "imperial".

According to tradition, in 19th-century Russia the finest specimens from the Ural Mountains were reserved for the tsar’s family — hence its regal air. (Another story links the name to the Brazilian imperial house.)

Today, the finest imperial topaz comes from Ouro Preto, Brazil.

Shades range from pale pink to warm, slightly peachy pink.

Associated with affection, gentleness, and emotional balance, topaz is one of November’s birthstones.

With a hardness of 8 it is durable, but it has perfect cleavage, so it can split if struck on an edge.

It’s best kept away from shocks and sudden temperature changes, and cleaned gently.

Its feminine tone is beautifully highlighted alongside rose gold as well as 925 silver.
